If you do forget to take a tablet, do not attempt to catch up by taking two tablets close together or actually doubling the dose at the regular time. The aim is to maintain a steady concentration of the drug in your blood stream. Producing spikes and troughs does not give you the pain relief you are looking for.

What if you do take an overdose?

There is no need to double the dose to catch up a missed pill. An overdose should not occur. If you do take too much, this can produce a dangerous slowdown in breathing and extreme drowsiness. If untreated, a coma may result and a few deaths have been reported.
